The Hunger Games
By: Suzanne Collins
This book is set in the future of North America. North America is divided into twelve districts with the Capitol as the richest, and district twelve as the poorest. Each district is in charge of certain supplies. Every year 'Reaping Day' is held in each district. This is when a male and female (between the ages of 12 and 18) are chosen to fight to the death against 22 other tributes from the other districts.
WHY I LIKE THIS BOOK:
When my best friend gave me the book to read I didn't really want to read it because kids killing each other just wasn't my cup of tea. I read it anyway, just to be polite and found I just couldn't put it down. I know this sounds weird, but when you read it you get so caught up in the moment that when you put it down and come back to civilization you just find yourself thinking that kids going out into the wild and killing each other is normal. When you read it you become one with the characters. At one stage I became very thirsty and in need for a drink but wouldn't have one when one of the main characters was de-hydrated and was dying of thirst.
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend this book to anyone who wants an intense heart thumping book. Intermediate age and up. Anyone who has seen the movie, THE BOOK IS SO MUCH BETTER! 10/10.
